Such Sweet Thunder formed in Kearney, Nebraska in 1988. They were well known in the state as one of the forefront local original bands. They released five cassettes on their own before joining forces with -ismist Recordings in 1992 to release the CD “Redneck.” Even this was a family move, as founder Dan Schlissel was a road crew member for the previous two years. Their sound was a jangly REM meeting an angry young Replacements, and their live energy carried them to new plateaus.
